In 1880 the Quartzville store was owned by J C Anderson and James Horn. This partnership lasted until 1886 when Horn brought the business and moved it down to Bannockburn. Horn also bought the Golden Gate Company - Carrick Range in 1898 and shifted plant away. He also brought Halliday's Hotel, Shepherds Creek and transferred the licence to the present Bannockburn Hotel. James was County Chairman, Member of Parliament for Otago and a member of the Otago Education Board for Central Otago |
