The above named holders of miners rights by their agent William Jackson Barry report the discovery of new quartz workings at the right hand branch of Smith's Gully on the Carrick Ranges, one mile or thereabouts from Elizabeth quartz reef. The reef bears north and south - District Cromwell Division of the Dunstan District - the party claim protection for a double claim in accordance with the regulations now in force - the particulars of the discovery are as below.
The reef is about 18 inches thick and is exposed to view from the creek in Smith's Gully, about two and a half tons has already been brought to grass and informants are of the opinion that its value will prove to be about from two to three ounces to the ton judging from the prospect obtained.
