2331 1878 Mine location. Right bank of Bannockburn Creek, eastern side of the inlet, opposite Slaughteryard Hill. Very close to the Excelsior No 2 Coal Mine (Parcell & Gibson) approx 0.8 km from the Kawarau River.
2332 1878 General Note. The mine is mentioned in Heart of the Desert ( J P Parcell ) but no details provided. Ah Kew is listed in Stones directory as a coal pit proprietor/.
2333 1892 Stones directory listing for Ah Kew. Ah Kew listed in Stones directory as being a gardener and herbalist - Chinese doctor living in Cromwell. He also acted as an interpreter.
2334 1893 Death of Ah Kew Ah Kew died on 26 Oct 1893. He was accidentally poisoned after eating pigs trotters that he had cooked for himself. He is buried in the Cromwell cemetery.
