3594 | 1887 | General notes. | William Richard Parcell (1) and Evan Jones sunk a prospecting shaft on the ridge between Pigroot and Long Alex gullies, overlooking Shepherds Gully. They struck coal in the shaft and as a result moved down from the ridge to Long Alex gully. Here they opened up a mine on the southern side of this gully. This mine was location #380. |
