On October 21, Alexander Henderson purchased dwelling #13 from Mr Sutherland. He planted a mixed orchard of cherries, plums and apricots. Mt Henderson worked for the Bannockburn Pest Destruction Board as a rabbiter. He ran sheep and later worked the orchard once the trees had matured. His son Robert worked with his father on the rabbit board, and later helped at the orchard.

In January 1971, Mr Alexander Robert Henderson died at the age of 63 years. He died of heart disease in Invercargill, and was buried in Arrowtown on 11 Jan 1971.
