1977 1902 The gig shed was probably built around this time.

The gig shed was probably built by Charles ray when he became the secretary of the Cromwell and Bannockburn Colliery Company.

1978 1924 General Notes.

Mr Charles Ray continued to use his horse and gig to travel to Cromwell to his job at the office of Scotts Coal until his death. The shed had the gig shed in the back or southern end, with the doors opening east. The stable was in the front or northern end, with the door opening east. Some time later when it was converted into a car garage, large wooden doors were added to the northern end.

1979 1924 Mrs Jane Ray would have used Charles horse and gig after his death in 1924.

1980 1929 Mrs Ray sold the gig shed to Miss I S McWhirter.

Mrs Ray sold all of her chattels which would have included the horse and gig. She moved from Bannockburn to Dunedin.
