It appears that the Cooper brothers, J Gibson and the Burrows brothers formed the New Cromwell Colliert Company and sunk a shaft at the eastern end of Revells Gorge to work the Cairnmuir seam of coal under Slaughteryard Hill. The exact location or details of this mine are not known, however the mine may well be the same as later developed by the New Cairnmuir Colliery Company (location #186). If not, it was in the very same area. |
