2305 1889 Mine location.

The mine was located on the lower Bannockburn Creek, approx 1.6 km from the Kawarau River, approx 0.6 km upstream of the confluence with Shepherds Creek, on the true right bank. No trace of the mine now exists.

2306 1889 Naming of the Cairnmuir seam.

It appears that Mr Ridland gave the name Cairnmuir to this seam of coal after he discovered it in location #499.

2307 1891 Ridland and Anderson coal lease

In July of 1891, A F Ridland and W Anderson took up a coal lease on the eastern side of the Bannockburn Creek, opposite the junction with Shepherds Creek.

2308 1893 The mine is producing coal.

In May Mess'rs Anderson and Ridland were producing coal from their 'Cairnmuir' mine.
