2502 1865 Birth of Henry Clyde Parcell

Henry Clyde Parcell was born on 8 Apr 1865 in Clyde, to William Richard Parcell and Mary Magdalene (O'Brien)

2503 1866 Parcell family move to Bannockburn.

William Richard Parcell and his family moved from Clyde to Bannockburn. Here the built or purchased the 'Halfway House' Hotel which included a store and dwelling (see location #292)

2504 1876 Birth of Mary Abigail Crow.

On 20 Aug 1876, at Hensingham, near Whitehaven, Cumberland, England, Mary Abigail Crow was born to Jacob Crow and Jane (Leavens)

2505 1881 The Crow family arrive in Bannockburn.

In December of 1881, Jane Crow and her three children (including Mary Abigail) and her father Isaac Leavens arrived in Bannockburn. Jacob Crow had built dwelling #301 and was gold mining in Duffers Gully where they lived. The Parcell family of 'Halfway House' (dwelling #292) were the Crow's closest neighbours and became good friends.

2506 1900 Marriage of Henry and Mary.

On March 15 1900 at the residence of Mr Jacob Crow, Hall Road, Bannockburn (dwelling #14), the marriage of Miss Mary Abigail Crow, 23 years and Mr Henry Clyde Parcell, 34 years, a carrier took place. Henry Parcell took up a small farm in Smith's Gully and built (or had built) dwelling #224 in the head of a gully which became known as Parcell's Gully. The couple lived and farmed here for the rest of their lives.

2507 c1900 Birth of William Parcell.

The first son, William Parcell was born around 1900. He was known as 'Rookie' because of his mothers maiden name of Crow.

Th Wakatipu Electoral Roll records Henry Clyde Parcell as being a coal merchant.

2511 c1922 William Parcell working as a guard on the railways.

William Parcell left Bannockburn and moved to the North Island with the railways, working as a guard.

2512 1923 Marriage of Mary Jane Parcell.

On 27 June 1923, Mary Jane Parcell was married to Edward (Ted) Lawrence at the Bannockburn Methodist Church. The officiating minister as the Rev. Witherford. They made their home in dwelling #106.

2513 c1925 Miss Clemintina McKerhan came to board with the Parcells.

About this time, Miss Clemintina Hasten McKerhan cam e to board with the Parcells.

2514 c1927 Marriage of Wilhelmina Parcell.

Wilhelmina Parcell married John Anderson of Kawarau Station and they made their home in dwelling #285.

2515 1929 Death of Henry Clyde Parcell.

In February of 1929, Henry Clyde Parcell died at the age of 63 years. he was buried in the Cromwell cemetery. Mr Parcells wife Mary Abigail continued to live in dwelling #224 and his son Henry Vincent Parcell helped his mother to run the farm.
