2999 c1928 Donald McInnes lived in one of the Kawarau Station huts.

Around 1928, Jack Anderson went to the Nevis to get labour to work on re-aligning the Bannockburn Creek water race. One of the labourers he recruited was Donald IcInnes. Once the work was completed Donald stayed on at Kawarau Station, and he lived in a hut behind the homestead for 23 years. Donald rode a chestnut mare which knew it's way back to Kawarau from the Bannockburn Hotel.

3000 c1951 General notes

A nephew of Mr McInnes came to visit him from the North Island. Not long after this visit Donald moved to Hamilton where he worked for his nephew on his dairy farm.
