It appears that the Ireson family came to Bannockburn areoun 1887, possibly directly from England although they may have lived somewhere temporarily before this.

490 1888 The Iresons moved into dwelling #30 in 1888

The Iresons moved into dwelling #30 in 1888. John (Jack) was known as a photographer (he had a camera). He worked away from the district a lot - and the Short sisters called him a gypsy, as he only came home occasionally. Mrs Ireson was a midwife.

491 c1894 John Barr came to live with the Ireson family.

It appears that around 1894, John Barr from dwelling #6 came to live with the Ireson family in dwelling #30.

492 various James Iresons employment

James is recorded in Stones directories for 1894 and 1912 as a miner. He does not appear in the directories for 1892 and 1893. It is not known whether he was a gold or coal miner.

493 General notes.

The children, with the exception of Mary may, had previously attended school in England, and all started at the Bannockburn school together on 10 Jan 1887. Louisa Jane married Isaac Thompson on 11 Aug 1893 and may have left Bannockburn around 1897.

494 1910 Note about the subdivision of Kawarau Station

In 1910 the Kawarau Station was subdived : Run 339 F Part Nevis, 8,630 Acres P.R. - A.C Ireson Run 339 G Part Hawksburn, 5670 Acres P.R. - E.J Ireson It may be that James and his son tool up part of the Kawarau Station at this time. ( initials do not seem to be correct ? )
