The dredge pond was created for the construction of a dredge for the Smith's Gully and Bannockburn Deep Lead Dredging Co Ltd.

3112 1870-80 Area used to be worked by Mr Charles Lawrence

The area of location #310 began as part of a claim which was worked by Charles Lawrence - see location #218.

3113 1900 General note.

The Smith's Gully and Bannockburn Deep Lead Dredging Company reworked part of the sluicing area to construct their dredge.

3114 1901 Company goes into liquidation.

The dredge pontoons were constructed by Mr Donald and his team of shipwrights. However, the dredging company was in liquidation by October.

3115 1903 Dredge pontoons purchased by the Rising Sun Dredging Company.

The dredge pontoons were purchased by the Rising Sun Dredging Company in February. They were transported to Lowburn on the Clutha River and launched.

3116 1923 Suggestion that the dredge pond be converted into a swimming pool.

The school teacher, Mr B F Simonsen suggested to the school committee that the dredge pond be converted into a swimming pool - see location #433.
