577 1899 John Campbell appointed mine manager for J Pryde.

John Campbell was appointed mine manager for J Pryde, then continued as mine manager for the J Horn syndicate when they purchased Mr Pryde's mines in June.

578 1900 Bannockburn Colliery Company formed.

In April the Cromwell and Bannockburn Colliery Company was formed and took over the assets of the James horn syndicate, including J Prydes Kawarau coal mines. John Campbell continued working as mine manager under the overall mine manager Mr John St Vincent Jaxon.

579 1901 Marriage of Jessie Campbell (youngest daughter of John Campbell)

On June 21, at the residence of Mr John Crombie Campbell in Bannockburn, Mr John Perry, coal miner aged 25 years married to Mr Campbells youngest daughter Miss Jessie Thompson Campbell, aged 16 years. The officiating minister was the Rev. Thomas Tait, the witnesses were David Dickey, miner of Bannockburn and Gertrude Cayford of Hawera. The couple made their home in Cromwell.
