Charles Peake purchased the Carrick Range Hotel from Mr James Hazlett. He extended the hotel and store to include a post office and hall. The complex became known as Peakseville. |

In August, Mr Peake shifted part of his Carrick Range Hotel in Quartzville down to Bannockburn. I was relocated and rebuilt on the corner of Nevis Street (west side) and Terrace Street (south side). Mr Peake applied to transfer the licence to this new hotel, but the licensing board rejected his application. Charles Peake was now in the position of having a hotel in quartzville, the Carrick Range Hotel - Peakseville with a liquor licence and no publican, while in Bannockburn he was now the publican os his new Carrick Range Hotel, without a liquor licence. He leased the Carrick Range - Peakseville complex to Mr George Manson. Meanwhile he ran his Bannockburn hotel as a boarding house and hall. Finally the licensing board granted a liquor licence for the Bannockburn hotel. |
