Mr Parcell's wife Mary Magdeline O'Brien died in july 1985. Shortly afterwards he built a timber framed, corrugated iron clad, one roomed hut. It was built on the site of dwelling #82 which had burned to the ground, and incorporated one of the stone chimneys from the previous dwelling. Mr Parcell lived here on his own until he was no longer able to look after himself. He then shifted to the Ross home in Dunedin, where he died on 4 July 1930, at he age of 95 years. |
