In June of 1889, George Lawrence and his brother Edward (who had originally discovered the Day Dawn reef) took up the Day Dawn reef. The reef is situated between the 'Crown and Cross' and the old 'Caledonian'. They re-erected part of the old Caladonian battery in the floor of he upper reaches of Smith's Gully. |
